For Gwen Ginter, there’s nothing like gowning up and getting into court. In fact, she describes herself as an “enthusiastic litigator” who thrives in the pace and intellectual challenges of the courtroom.
Gwen studied at Simon Fraser University before moving to Toronto, where she earned a law degree at Osgoode Hall Law School, and an MBA from York University’s Schulich School of Business. After articling in Vancouver, Gwen returned to BC’s Interior, where she grew up, and began to teach commercial law and other business courses at the University College of the Cariboo (now Thompson Rivers University).
Alongside sessional lecturer positions throughout her career, Gwen began practising law in Kamloops full-time and accepted a position as in-house counsel with ICBC, further developing her expertise and passion for insurance defence. Looking for opportunities to practice estate and commercial law as well as her first love, insurance defence, Gwen was drawn to both the people and opportunities at Gillespie, which she joined in 2014.
When Gwen’s not in the courtroom or the office, she’s likely at the curling rink, spending time with her husband and two sons or raising money for the community with the Kamloops West Rotary Club. She served on the Board of Directors for the Kamloops YMCA/YWCA for several years, and looks forward to her 2018 term as president of her Rotary Club.
