Growing up, Amanda Strangways never questioned her parents’ words that she would become a lawyer. When Thompson Rivers University opened its law school just as she was finishing her bachelor’s degree there, she simply changed buildings. Three years later, Amanda was proud to be a member of TRU Law’s inaugural graduating class.
Between her second and third year of law school, Amanda was hired as a summer student at Gillespie, and she had a chance to see the scope of the firm’s practice and get to know her mentors. By the end of the summer, Amanda knew she wanted to article at Gillespie the following spring. By the time she finished her articles, she had a career in law.
Today, Amanda practices in a range of areas, including personal injury litigation, wills/estates and estate litigation. She enjoys being challenged every day by the diversity of files that come across her desk. Colleagues and clients alike appreciate her energy and optimism as well as her drive to obtain the desired result for her clients.
Outside the office, Amanda and her husband enjoy traveling abroad, trying new restaurants and taking the occasional weekend trip to Vancouver. Having grown up in Salmon Arm, Amanda also loves spending time enjoying the great outdoors in the Thompson-Okanagan and Shuswap.
